Current Event- Feb. 7th
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2014150972_cruisedeath07.html
Cruise line Royal Caribbean may suffer in bookings and profit because of this event. The article states that many future trips have canceled their stops to Cozumel, but the fact that this may have been a homicide could be enough to push tourists away. Apparently this "hot spot" for tourists has always suffered from gang violence, and many cruise companies are steering away because of this. Also, the fact that they can not easily pin this possible crime on anyone is quite scary. The fear of the unknown will always scare the public, and this makes one wonder what else is unknown concerning traveling. Americans are extremely naive when it comes to foreign countries, and it will probably always stay that way. No matter how many stories are published or movies produced, the public will still do what they please. But, on the other hand, there is so much that is held from the public's knowledge that it's only normal to always feel safe as an American. It is actually quite surprising that a story like this is published because of how it may affect huge corporations. Normally, this type of case would be kept under the wrap and later the consequences would be noticed.
